Girls in STEAM

Girls in STEAM is a Canadian non-profit organization that supports access to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, Maths) education for girls, women, non-binary, and the LGBTQ+ community across North America.

In an industry with disproportionate representation, STEM education should consider inclusivity for women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and individuals with one or more identities who are commonly excluded from normative design space.

We aim to help balance the gender disparity in the tech industry through creating community, educational programming, and an accessible network for girls, women, non-binary, and the LGBTQ+ community to kickstart their early careers.

Girls Inc.

INSPIRING ALL GIRLS TO BE STRONG, SMART, AND BOLD.

The network of local Girls Inc. nonprofit organizations serves girls ages 6-18 at more than 1,500 sites in 350 cities across the United States and Canada. Our research-based programming is delivered by trained professionals who focus on the development of the whole girl, supporting, mentoring, and guiding girls in an affirming, pro-girl environment. Here, girls learn to value their whole selves, discover and develop their inherent strengths, and receive the support they need to navigate the challenges they face.

Girls Inc. girls live healthy and active lifestyles and are less likely to engage in risky behavior; they are eager to learn, successful in school, and more likely to graduate from post-secondary education; and they display diligence, perseverance and resilience.

Girls ReCode

EDUCATE. INNOVATE. EMPOWER.

Girls ReCode is a mentorship school club that teaches elementary and middle school girls how to code, create apps, websites, games, and much more! We want to inspire girls to innovate and nurture their own ideas and creative thoughts into social good projects and impacts.

We started this organization in the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year to help bridge the gender gap in STEM and Computer Science. At a very early age, many girls feel discouraged to pursue these fields for a number of reasons. Most of the times, girls experience a lack of resources, female role models, and have the general feeling of intimidation from STEM. Our group of mentors will help de-code this so called "difficult" field of Computer Science.

Our club creates our own free curriculum and slides and organizes our own projects to teach. We believe that one of the best methods to teach young girls is through passion projects.
